Hi!!! I'm kind of new in the aquarium hobby.

I have a 15g aquarium with a millennium 2000 (160gph), 1 Koralia Nano (240gph), 1 Maxi-jet 400 (106gph) and for the light I have a Current USA fixture with tow compact lights of 40w each.
And for the livestock I have like 20 pounds of live rock, live sand, 2 clown fishes, 1 Firefish, 1 coral banded shrimp, 2 blues leg craps, 6 snails, 1 sand shifting start.
And for corals I have 2 pieces of polyps from the Zoanthus family, a small family (4 in total) of Green Striped Mushroom, 1 Brain Coral Trachyphyllia, and some frags of Clavularia around the aquarium.

Ok now that you know all I have in my aquarium lets go with the problem. I had the aquarium for about a year already is a very well establish system and all the corals was thriving perfect, but them the
algae problem started it started to cover the corals and suffocate them so I started to use Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Algaefix for the green algae and Dr. G's Red Slime Controller for the red alagae.
But the problem persist so I decided to brake apart the aquarium and cleaned, and it was beautiful, but after two weeks the algae stars to appear again. so I decide to cover the aquarium with a
black peace of fabric to prevent the the light from the windows get in to the aquarium but with no luck. I'm doing water changes every week (about 15% of the water).

Please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the MarineDepot.com forum.

How old are the bulbs?  How long do you run the lights?

What are your water parameters - post specifics - pH, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, phosphates, etc.

What type of water are using - RO?

Hi thank you for anser to my post.

The paramiters of my aquarium are more than perfect. I use a API test kid, and I take the water some times to de LFS and they said that the water is perfect.
The bulbs are like 7 months old and are compact lights, I read that i have ti change the every year.
amonia 0.0
nitrate 0.0
nitrite 0.0
calsium 400
pH 8.2

I used RO water, and I don't have skimer all I have for filtration is the Millennium 2000 I thought it was enough because my aquarium is just 15g. I don't have sump.
My house have some windows around de aquarium but none of them is giving a direct light to the aquarium. And how I said before I covered the aquarium with a black peace of fabric with no luck.
I'll appreciate any soulution you can give me.

I run the lights for 8 hours, and the laves on the phosphates are 0.0 but I think is because the algae eats them too fast, leaving no trace on the water.
I bought a phosphate remover yesterday lets see if it works, But know I have to find were the phosphates are coming from.
I use RO water and saltwater from the fish store but I think I'm going to buy it some where else.

Can you send some pics of the setup?

What are you using for media in the filter?

What are you feeding the fish?

have you considered a red slime remover? i had a recent problem in my tank that was a very bad red slime problem. i used the blue life stuff it actually didn't do anything the first treatment, didn't harm any of my fish but i didn't think to turn the lights off. second treatment i turned the lights and that stuff was gone within 48 hours. if you're skeptical about using it, then do enough research i worked up the courage to use it and it didn't kill anything in my tank, thank god. no effects as of yet and it's been about a month and a half. i was sick of siphoning out the red slime water changes took forever. so, try turning off your lights first, change your water flow. and use RO water. if all else fails then use the remover.
