I can't tell from the video, but what you described sounds like copepod swarming. I assume you'll take photos of the new event for us. As an aside, I just got an email from someone interested in what was happening in a culture tanks full of what appears to be a Xeniid or Clavularia and I steered him to this thread. Same behavior but I asked for samples to ID what it is.

How many reports do you get a year on spawning in a home aquarium ? How many are true ? and what species have spawned more then one time ? I can't find much, mabie i am looking in the wrong place.

I get a fair number. I originally wrote this article, http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-06/eb/index.php, and then took the data from that and other reports for a peer-reviewed publication in the Proceedings of the 10th International Coral Reef Symposium. I have continued to accumulate all records I come across or when people contact me, so I can add more species to that list. So far, the best record I have is my own with my Psammacora (two separate colonies, both male sadly) broadcast spawning three years in a row at the same time each year (same month with one a split spawn), same number of days after the full moon, and same time. Usually, events for broadcast spawns are very random and may only happen once. Brooders are much better at reproducing in tanks, and more regular, but yours is the most prolific I have ever known about and wish I had more information about the brooding cycle of your coral from the literature but it doesn't exist. You are in new territory, literally.

Hey guys, The eggs hatched again. I noticed larva around 11:45 pm, Its now around 3:30 pm and they are still at it. I cut a piece of filtersock and placed it in my overflow, trying to capture some larva. Here are a few pics from this afternoon, If anyone wants the original pics send me a pm,there not that great but hope to have that problem solved very soon.

Cory:
photos and documentation are great and keep them coming. Looks like a lot fewer than some of the past events. I have emails I need to write to you (sorry - they keep piling up!) and your new photo efforts are really good. Now, we need a big spawn and some larval photos. What happened with the larvae you took out and let swim? Do you have some photos of the recruits from previous events and how they have grown?
You know, you may get to a point where you have so much of this coral they may start limiting their own growth and if that happens, reproduction will slow too.
I'm out of town this weekend but will be back Sunday morning. I will hopefully catch up some in the airport.

Eric,
The larva hatch went on almost all day yesterday, from my pics it looked like a small amount but there was a ton of them. They were not clumped like last time.Today they are still hatching and there are even more then yesterday. So this event has gone on for over 24hrs.I removed the filter sock last night and placed in the 6 gallon aquarium,at that time i seen no larva, today there is a few hundred all bunched up i was amazed , they are hanging from the fibers of the sock, and a few i can see on the substrate.
I am glad you reminded me about the larva that was swimming, I took that small container out of the water, thinking nothing was in there,it sat in my closet for a few days,no light, air nothing but dead phytoplankton in the bottom of the container. I just pulled it out, inspected and wow!! there are 2 recruits( is that the right word) they are clear in color with a sandy color base to them,so i guess it will be cool to see what happens in there, and hopefully get a chance to get some pictures out of them. Now it is confirmed i can settle larva outside of the display tank!!!
I will post pictures of the new larva, and eggs that have hatched today,
Enjoy!
I can't add pictures?
