Got to say, I love this machine! Setup my 3 email accounts and didn't once have to contact tech support. It was so easy to install and navigate in comparison to every Windows unit I have ever used. Once I scrounge up some more money, my Dell laptop is getting the boot too!

You've gone to the dark side, LOL.

Hi, I'm a Mac

..And I'm a PC

The MIL uses a Mac and maybe it is because I am so use to my PC that I can't stand it...or it could be the fact she is on dial-up and it takes forever to navigate anywhere.

It is a little different than my past PC's, but I already have the hang of properly closing the windows versus just minimizing them. Everything else seems fine, no confusion in the transition.

why it takes so long for people to actually figure out that a computer is supposed to work for you and not against you is beyond me...

Congrats Steve--welcome to the cognescenti,

these are great machines. They just "work" and w/ minimum hassles, and since your used to a windows box, it might take you a few weeks to get acustom to logical placement of files, folders, etc and to an OS that doesn't crash or lockup for years

Several weeks in and it is only getting better. I am becoming much more accustomed to the IMAC. The only thing I don't like is the spell check. It will highlight any misspelled word in any program, which is really cool compared to Windows. But, with a Windows machine I could right click and change the spelling (when using Word). There is no right click here. Instead I have to use a drop down tab under the Edit heading. Anybody know if there is a better short-cut?

By the way, I had to use my boss's Vista laptop this weekend to play one video for a customer. What a piece of junk! Takes forever to complete turning on then is overly complicated to just play a simple DVD.

What do you mean about changing the spelling by a right click? There are all sorts of ways to do this. Using Windows and having a Windows partition on my MacBookPro, and having used Windows a lot (as everyone needs to do, however painful it is), I am unfamiliar with the right click spelling change feature. Looking it up on Google, though, try control click. Also, there are external mice you can buy with right click emulators.

MS Word in a Windows machine would underline misspelled words. When you right clicked on it, it would give you correct spelling options.

Apple will spellcheck in any program or any typed word, which is way cool! I can spellcheck any message board entry without using their respective spellcheck buttons. But, the only way to correct the errors is to select Spelling & Grammar from the Edit drop down.

The guy at the Apple store told me how to change my system preferences so I could add a right-click on my existing mouse. Works like a charm!
