Hi, the following specimen was sold to me as a turbo snail, however after some research it seems to me that it is something else. I was told it was imported, but I suspect that it is a local species, possibly (?) Thais melones, which, by the way, would be ilegal to extract...not to mention carnivorous! I was hoping to get an ID, to make sure, before I return them to the store. Thanks!

Hi Andrew,
It appears as if your identification is right on the money.
See here.
Definitely not an animal for a reef tank smaller than a few million liters. One that size could probably support its predation indefinitely.
It would be a good candidate for a "species" tank though. It probably will live 10-30 years, and be quite trainable, etc.
Cheers, Ron

Wow, those little guys are a fish tank hazard!
Off to the store, I guess. Thanks a lot for the help!
