My #10 Kati-Ani system back up & running after a small disaster (don't put a valve in that you assure yourself you won't leave closed... BOOM!).
Blue resin is how much I had to replace. Got running now to flush the system out. Red tint on top of the Ani (white/blue) is from the dye in the red resin, as that was sitting for a while, it'll clear up. Water flows Sediment>carbon>carbon>kati>ani through 3/8" tubing.

This will supply the 75g tank I'm slowly setting up, as well as my small 20g long frag tank.

how do you go about getting one of those. I have looked in the bookmarked pages but only see Kip listed as source. I would like to see about getting one. it seems like the way to go.

Yeah, I just happened to get a great deal on this unit when I bought a used 75g tank (guy said he had something else to show me, I offered $100 ).
Everyone else seems to need to get one through some guy named Kip (info elsewhere on the forums).

Kip is the only fellow importing them presently and has another shipment arriving in weeks. Theres talk of another possible distributor for Kati Anis but that would likely be also at least some weeks away. Best indeed to contact the mfg and ask their recommendations for a dealer near you.

Slick setup!
What fittings are you using to go from the 3/8" ID tubing, and where, may I ask, did you purchase them?
I'm running a #1 for my 75 gallon, and wish I had gone bigger. (My tap is over 400 TDS.)
Do you have your recharging setup figured out yet? I'm still tinkering with ideas.
Thanks!
Scott

All the fittings are 3/8" John-guest style quick connect ones I got from Lowes (Home Depot has them too). I went with an all 3/8" system since the connections on the towers are close to 3/8" (they're metric, but it's very close to 3/8"). I could have gotten away with 1/4" all the way up to the last filter connection feeding to the kati unit.
The part I connect to the basement sink is custom though. I couldn't find any hose thread to 3/8" quick connect like I have for 1/4". I just bought a hose thread to 1/2" hose barb, cut off the barb and tapped the hole for a threaded quick connect fitting. You may be able to find such a fitting online though.
For recharging, I'll probably have to get a few more hoses, etc... but since the top of the units are just plumbed with 3/8" vinyl hose thats only pushed on, it'll be easy enough to disconnect the towers from the rest of the system.
Water filter cannisters were bought from a popular vendor on Ebay. I think they were around $20-something for 3.
It's not beautiful, nor does it need to be since it's on my unfinished basement half, but it works.
My friend has a welder, so it's tempting to weld up a metal frame and even put some caster wheels on it for more portability. Those #10 towers are heavy

I thought I would share my experience with these units. I spent a great deal of time trying to procure a functional Kati Ani unit. I was reluctant to purchase an RO setup due to the waste involved, but needed to filter out substantial quantities of nitrate and ammonia from my tap water. The only kati ani-like unit I was able to obtain was the “tap water filter” which I exhausted after producing a mere 10-15 gallons. The solution I came up with was a two stage DIY filtration setup. Water is pushed through a ½ inch flexi tube (by a maxi-jet 400) and into the first stage (a .5 micron cartridge). The second stage is a carbon block. The first stage manages to remove nitrates, while the second successfully removes the ammonia. Due to the first cartridge’s tight-knit/fine filtration, coupled with the smaller sized water pump, the water trickles through the tube, preserving my cartridges. The complete system comprises two buckets, one with tap water and the other with purified water. It has provided purified water for my 150 gallon reef for the past two months. I am curious to hear Anthony Calfo’s input on this purification setup as I understand he is a proponent of DI filtration over RO. Regards, RickN
