Hi All,
Been reading some about Kati Ani DI.
I'm investigating it because I'm wasting a lot of water with my RO/DI
Anthony, I know you've used them and so has Steven.
Can you direct me to where I might purchase a unit?
Any other less dated info. would be helpful.
Thanks so much,
Tom

Kip Tani is the current US importer for Kati-Ani's. I will PM you with his contact info.

I wanted to mention something. The Ani column is recharged with sodium hydroxide/NaOH/caustic soda. This was commonly available as Lewis Red Devil Lye. This product was sold as a drain opener, but has since become increasingly scarce. I have heard numerous rumors as to why no one can find it anymore. The two most popular and believable in my opinion are 1.) that is was not a very good seller and 2.) that people that make meth use it and it is being removed from store shelves because of that reason. As an allergy sufferer, I can attest that some other things used to create meth like Sudafed have become harder to get a hold of because of the proliferation of this drug. But, have no fear. This is the age of the internet. You can still buy NaOH online at a number of places. Just search for sodium hydroxide or Red Devil Lye and you should find a number of hits. Most of these will mention making homemade soap as this is another use for NaOH.

I will also tell you that I have noticed that some sketchy parts of town still have hardware stores that stock NaOH. But, it is probably easier to just buy it online.

| More than a few folks have been saying Kip is slow or failing to reply to emails. Hes usually very good about it. I reckon he's got some priority otherwise now. Indeed, this is just a hobby for most of us. There is a chap on the East coast looking into distributing Kati Ani units here in the US. More dealers are badly needed. This product is rarely in stock in the US it seems as of late. If/when I hear of other dealers (officially) I will post.

| Just a heads up for people already using a Kati Ani. Lye is getting harder and harder to find in small amounts atleast in NE PA. Lowes is once again stocking a brand of 100% Sodium hydroxide. It is sold under the name of "Roebic". The package contains enough for about 3-5 recharges depending on the strength used. Carl

| Here is a place out of Germany selling the true Aqua Technic Kati/Ani units. Says they ship worldwide. It would probably just make sense to order directly from Aqua Technic though if you are willing to have it shipped from Germany. http://www.aquaristic.net/shop/shop.php/cl/details/lang/1/anid/s-200030 English text http://www.aquatechnic.de/ German only text Spectra Pure does have the good quality strong acid and strong base resins back in stock also. If your going to use a standard refillable cartridge the quart size will be enough with just a little left over after filling your cartridges. Keep this handy because when new you can only pack so much into the cartridge. After some use the resins will settle and shift in the cartridges and you'll be able to get alittle more in. Carl
