Reef tank has been shut down for several weeks down, water still in tank--should I keep the sand bed and attempt to re-invigorate it or start again pursuant to the dictates of Dr. Ron;s Sandbed book?  Please advise.

Whatever you are, be a good one.

the thought of reusing this sand to me is at best slightly harmful and likely very laborious to rinse it well enough to do so (possible kill and cure too). Or it could just wipe out your tank or be an source of brutal nuisance algae in the future.

I see little good in reusing sand in most cases.
