Hey folks, I got myself a cool little reef photography toy a while back. It is called a Lensbaby. A lensbaby is a selective focus lens for an SLR camera. From their website (which is here - http://www.lensbabies.com):

We'd like to introduce you to Lensbabies™ selective focus SLR camera lenses. Lensbabies bring one area of your photo into sharp focus, with that "sweet spot" surrounded by graduated blur. You can move the sweet spot to any part of your photo by bending the flexible lens tubing.

Here is a picture of the little sucker:

And here are some pics that I took with the little toy. I tried to get some good pics of my kids with the thing, but had to move to corals in my tank as they move less (and I was still a little rough with the thing). Anyhow, enjoy. And click on the images for a link to them on flickr, larger versions present....

Very cool, I was consiering one as well!  I wouldn't use a tilt-shift enough but these are affordable and seem fun.  How do you like it?  I cant find one in person to see, how does the build quality feel?

The lensbaby is absolutely wonderful. The build quality is very solid and it works very well. And it's such a fun lens, basically limited ONLY by your creativity.

Now, I DO recommend getting the accessories for the lens as soon as possible. They sell a kit that includes a 0.6X Wide Angle Conversion Lens and a 1.6X Telephoto Conversion Lens. These attach to the front of the lensbaby and change the zoom level. And then they sell a macro kit that includes +4 and +10 diopter lenses that also screw to the front of the lensbaby and change the focal distance of the camera.

The macro kit ESPECIALLY is crucial for a reefkeeper. However, you'll want them both eventually. ALSO, if you order, go directly through their site. I had SO MUCH TROUBLE trying to get this from amazon, who I usually love. Or perhaps your LCS (Local Camera Store? ) would be a good choice as well....

I got the 2.0. I took some pics of my wife with it yesterday and will post a couple eventually. I really love the effects you can create...
