Anthony,
I am working hard on my BTA fragging, By Monday I should have 2 :-)
My question lies with LTA. I got a beautiful, large LTA, at an amazing price. It has been happy and healthy in an aquarium for a year. So I am thinking, heck if I can prop BTA, why not try LTA, there is a thread somewhere where you mentioned you had done it successfully.
Here is my issue, LTA love to have their foot buried in sand, and I want the LTA to be happy, so do I give it sand? I was thinking of giving it a 2-3 inch sand bed on top of indoor/outdoor carpet. My thinking is that it would be happy to bury its foot, but the carpet would prevent it from attaching to the glass underneath. My fear is that the sand may cause issues in the healing process.
Plan B was to cut them and keep them in a different carpet lined tank for 24 hours while they heal then back into the sand tank.
And then Plan C would be the standard BTA setup with indoor/outdoor carpet only.
I just do not know how much extra care this species will require to keep them happy and growing.
What are your thoughts?

My fear is that the sand may cause issues in the healing process. perhaps... and its just not needed or wanted for a prop tank. This anemone cuts well like every other and is not so needy of sand as other soft substrate dwellers (such as Stichodactyla gigantea). Treat this anemone like an Entacmea exactly... it will be fine my friend. You can see videos of us cutting these anemones from the TheImac.org and past MACNA DVDs FWIW

Would there be any advantage or disadvantage to having a HOB refuge with Live Rock Rubble, in the system?
I have a couple small hob refuges and a ton of rubble. I was figuring that the rock would help break down ammonia quicker and keep Nitrates a little higher.
What you think?

I'm not a big fan of using natural substrates of any kind (fear of [pests, predators, disease) in propagation tanks. I use all dry media (sand/rock) for better control of species in my culture systems and recommend the same for others.
