| Any opinions on which of these skimmers are better than the other. What model for each would you recommend for a 180 gallon

| I have no first hand experience with the ASM skimmers, but have been using the AquaC skimmers for quite some time. I currently own an EV240, EV180 and Urchin. I have been very happy with the AquaC skimmers. The EV240 is currently on a 220 tank (total volume close to 300 gallons with fuge and sump) and is run off a Mag18. The EV180 ran my 135 gallon (total volume around 160 gallons with fuge and sump) back when I lived in CA and it was run off a Mag 7. The Urchin is running a 54 corner tank. My friend had an ASM G3 I think on his 150 gallon cube tank and when we compared the performance between my EV180 and his ASM, they were almost identical. Both pulled out tons of junk. For a 180 gallon tank, you could really use either the EV180 or EV240 for your tank. I am not sure what models of ASM are available so I can't recommend one of them. HTH,

| I have multiple systems (3100+ gallons) and use both the ASM and the AquaC. I currently use both the Aqua C remora with skimmer box on a non drilled 180 gallon. On another 180 gallon with sump (very small sump) - I use the Aqua C urchin. I use an ASM G3 on a 220 gallon and use the G4's on a 1000 gallon shark pond and a 600 gallon. I like them both and find them to be very reliable and easy to set up - just attach pump and plug in

| I have a total of 500 gallons in my system and I use an ASM G-6. The skimmer performed great out of the box......but now it is incredible with a recent DIY modification. I converted the three needlewheels to meshwheels and I can't believe the increase of skimmate I am pulling out. I used a 3M floor scraping pad (sorta like synthetic steel wool). I also ordered some Enkamat that will arrive tomorrow along with an air flow meter so I can assess the performance with some hard measurements. If you have or plan to get a needlewheel skimmer, like the ASM, the meshwheel mod is cheap, fast, easy, and really enhances the performance of the skimmer.

| They are two of my favorites. FWIW... I feel that the AQUA C are better skimmers with slightly more tuning/cleanings... but if you are lazy (all due respect) and are willing to take less but reliable skimmate: ASM My advice... please make the small effort to clean any skimmer regularly... and go with the Aqua C (or a Euro-reef)
