Hi! I was wondering why the marinedepot website says this skimmer is "recommended for aquariums up to 12 gallons" when the product's website (http://www.current-usa.com/fission.html) says it's "for tanks up to 30 gallons".

A lot of manufacturers tend to overestimate their products' effectiveness. You see this in power filters, protein skimmers, powerheads, and canister filters. Once people actually start to use them, you get a better feel for how well they really perform and what size tank would be best for them.

Thanks for the reply.
So who decides that this skimmer is good for up to 12 gallon aquariums?
I see the Prizm skimmers are rated for 90 and 300 gallon aquariums, pretty much as manufacturer states. And I've read your impressions article. Not that you have anything to do with the MarineDepot skimmer ratings.
