| I just aquired a Naso Tang 2 weeks ago and today it is pooping a long whitish stringy poop about 5-8 inches. I have been feeding seaweed select, flakes, cyclopeeze and brineshrimp, mysis, blood worms, krill soak in garlic. Any ideas as internal parasites! ,if so what meds I need. Regards PowderBlueTang

Praziquantel is a good one. Try doing a search here because I believe Kelly has recommended it in several cases.
Good luck!

| Powderbluetang, Welcome to MarineDepot.com and this forum. The stringy feces could be internal parasites or internal infection. I would try deworming with praziquantel and if the fish continues to have these feces, I would treat with metronidazole. In both treatments, I recommend administering via food versus adding to the water in a separate QT/hospital tank. Jungle has a good deworming medicated food. Only feed the deworming food while treating to ensure adequate therapeutic dosing. Here are a couple threads/links that may help: http://forum.marinedepot.com/Topic26189-10-1.aspx?

| Thanks for the replys Christine and Kelly, I have the Jungle food for anti parasite and anti bacteria that I bought a 2 weeks ago for no reason at the Lfs. Now I have a reason to use it! Should I feed in my display tank or Quaratine the Naso and feed in the Q-Tank. Thanks for the Welcome Kelly Regards PowderBlueTang

| I would feed ALL of the fish the anti-parasitic food only for the recommended dosing on the food container. I deworm all of my newly aquired fish, sharks, seahorses, etc while I have them in quarantine before introduction to their display tank. I would keep the naso in QT for now, to make sure the fish takes the food/medication and improves otherwise you might be moving the fish more in the future. Keep us updated. Best of luck.

| Thanks Kelly for the advice, funny thing is I started feeding the Jungle food yesterday, but the naso stop pooping stringy fecese and the last two days is back to normal. I will keep on feeding the Jungle anti parasite food, but will keep an eye on him or her closely for awhile. Regards PowderBlueTang

| Thanks for the update. The tang could still have worms that are internal. I would continue the antiparasitic food and would recommend deworming all new fish. Keep us updated. Best of luck.

| Hi Kelly I have been feeding the Jungle anti parasite and no more stringy poop. I also started to feed the anti bacterial also in my other SW tanks and even for my chilids also. Will continue to feed for one more week and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice. Cheers PowderBlueTang

| Thanks for the updates. Are you feeding the anti parasitic or the anti bacterial to your other tanks ?
