| Anthony, We have a little debate going on another forum about what gas is normally trapped in the bubbles of cyanobateria. I was under the impression that it was Nitrogen from their fixing activities, but others think it is Oxygen. Please help break the stalemate and if you wonder over to our forum that would be cool too. You know where we are. Thanks, in advance, Ben

| cheers, my friend Hmmm... generalizing here and making some presumptions about the circumstances, but: Cyanobacteria are nitrogen-fixing, but oxygen(gas)-producing. An easily answered question, if I may respectfully say so, with a simply search engine query. From my list of "Fav links..." atop this forum which is the treasure of links/URLs of my understanding, knowledge, content, etc that most people seem to ignore there is a URL in that sticky pointing to a site called: http://science.howstuffworks.com/ nifty for such info seeking science discussions. Just to make your question (and my answer) more interesting, did someone say Hydrogen? http://www.microbialcellfactories.com/content/4/1/36 And if you intend to quote me above, I'd be much obliged if you'd (only) quote the text en toto. kindly, Anthony

Sorry, I forgot you do not have to pay for the search function on this forum. Next time I will try it first.

OMG... too funny. I too forget that the functionality of search engines on various sites is not more even keeled! My apologies as well Indeed, I am spoiled as well for having decent cable connectivity... so most all of my fav databases and sites with proper working search tools are a breeze for me.kindly, Anth-
