looks like long strands of cheato connected to stems/branches. Any idea? will this be any good in nutrient export?

(we just got this whole bunch for ten pesos, or approx 20 cents)

And ID from pics is tough... and these pics are not close or clear enough to be able to evenmake a guess my friend. I suggest you do some strategic keyword searches (or image searches) on the google engines for region-specific species. You can also look in the Littlers' Pacific guide to plants and algae for a likely familiar image. There is also algaebase.org to help you once you get it narrowed down further by name.

Else please provide a clear full-frame closeup for us to try to help you better my friend

I actually did an image search on algaebase, I conclude, this can be anything actually. can we rule out cheato, at the very least?

I would say so. Chaeto, from my experience, has very small, round strands.
