| I'm currently upgrading to a 90g tank. In prep for that, I purchased a larger external recirculating skimmer to replace my in-sump skimmer. I will soon have a large void in my sump that will be begging for something to be in there. I know you are a proponent of redundant skimmers, and it sounds like a good idea. So, I'm torn between putting chaeto macro in there, or sticking an in-sump skimmer in there for a redundant skimmer. I realize a redundant skimmer and a macro refugium do two different things, but if I put the skimmer in there, I don't have room anywhere else in the system for a macro refugium. So with that, which would be more beneficial for my system?? A macro refugium to suck up nitrate and a little phosphate, or a redundant skimmer?

I would probably add the refugium. While I agree that redundant skimmers are a good idea (I have two skimmers on my own display), I wouldn't choose a second skimmer over a refugium.
Steven Pro, yeah that is my real name.

I'd take a full-size, free-standing (plumbed inline) refugium here over a full sized second skimmer. But if the only refugium option is to integrate it into the sump, then it is rather like an apology (a poor use/excuse) for employing a refugium. To weak versus the second skimmer IMO

I agree with captbunzo. When this forum first launched I was coming here quite regularly. With the massive amount of problems with this forum software, I'm not visiting as much anymore.
MD should not have to do this much work on a program they purchased. You are basically paying them to do their development work for them, that should never happen. Would you buy a new TV and start re-soldering contacts and rewiring the insides when you have problems?
If it was me, I'd cut my losses, tell InstantForum.net what they can do with their alpha level software, and switch to vbulletin or something else more proven.

| Argh!!! Disregard that, I was replying to another post and got bitten by one of the very bugs I was complaining about. As I see you did as well in this thread, Anthony.

| When you say "full-size, free-standing (plumbed inline)" refugium, how big are we talking here? I'm limited by my available space, which being in apartment isn't much.
