| Hi again, I was wondering if you routinely dose iodine in your tanks and if you test for it. If so, do you use iodine based on anecdotal evidence, or has there been scientific evidence (my measly search didn't turn up anything worthwhile). Thanks, Craig

| I dose iodine daily and small quantities and test occasionaly (after establishing what I perceive to be a baseline need for a given system) and have done so now for over 15 years. While there is little hobby related data to confirm who needs what if any iodine, we know that iodioe is a fundamenatl element and in volatile supply/existence in aquaria (read: short-lived... easily skimmed/chemically filtered out, etc... hence the small daily doses). I have neither the skills nor the funds to run experiments to confirm it either. But as a coral farmer for quite a while now... it is clear to me that the application of iodine in small quantities has at least not hurt. I feel instead that it is a great help. And beyond benefits of nutritive derivation, iodine has anti-microbial properties and increases RedOx values of the aquarium water. All good.

most folks use (clear) potassium iodide... I buy Lugol's Strong USP Iodine solution from my pharmacy when going DIY, or Seachems iodide when using a commercial brand

| Anthony, Do you also use ozone? I recently read that iodide levels may be diminished with ozone use.
