Having trouble posting so sorry if this comes up twice.

I am wondering what RO/DI unit to get.  Mine is only an RO.  Does it make a difference?

Also what brand do you suggest?  Are any ok here at Marine depot?

Thanks

.

If memory serves me right, brand names should not be a big issue since there are but a few manufacturers of the membranes, which are then bought and used within numerous brands, as such, I would shop for price over a specific name brand. I believe you will find some fairly decent units for sale on Ebay for around 100 dollars or so.

Yes, Having the DI cartridge is very important, it adsorbs elements that are able to get past the membrane unit.

For very detailed information concerning these units, please read this article.

the thread-starting post above was from radicaljbr and split from another thread for tidiness and archiving purposes.

I keep a running list of many such popular topics in my sticky atop this forum "Fav links..."

Under discussions you will find one for RO/DI:

My preference is for most folks to avoid RO unless you can use the (considerable amount of) waste water. But DI only (or RO disabled RO/DI) are fabulous and highly recommended.

As for brand recommendations... you will find that usually the more expensive resins are far better quality. They last longer (near indefinitely actually) and filter better. I am using German Aquatechnik (there is a thread on that with Steve Pro) in this forum

kind regards to all,

Anthony
