| I am under the impression that anemones are not suitable for the SPS aquaria (really best in species tanks) as they are motile and pocess potent stinging cells. Are Stichodactyla tapetum harmless to SPS and suitable for community reef tanks as some assert?

| FWIW... I have kept this species in some prop/frag tanks. Its quite attractive... but not wholly "safe." That is to say, its rather typical of anemones as it excercises its ability to move around at times and that is a bad habit for obvious reasons beyond aggression towards other cnidarians (risks of damage by overflows, pump intakes, weirs, etc). As for aggression... it does seem to beat least somewhat on the lower end of cnidarian punch-packing. That said, my affinity for rare Xeniids suffered the presence of this anemone. It did burn back more specimens than not when they (the anemones) travelled about the prop tank. I would not describe this anemone as weak or wholly innocuos by any definition. I think a diligent aquarist will have little to no trouble keeping these ultimately in their mxed displays... and more casual aquarists would be better to avoid them like most anemones in garden reef displays. It's such a beautiful little creature... quite worthy of sequestered residence/cultivation in refugia if the display does not work out.
