Hi Kelly:

Are you aware, or can you provide, any good references on the effectiveness of hyposalinity on the treatment of eukaryotic parasites in fish? I have a thread in my forum that I have answered insofar as my biological awareness of the nature of plasma membranes but am fairly unfamiliar with the literature in this area. I would go on a literature search, but thought you might be best to check with first...or come visit the thread. Thanks.

Hi Eric,

I always rely on Dr Ed Noga's book Fish Disease Diagnosis and Treatment 2000.  In it he cites the study by Dr Colori.  (Colorni, A.  Aspects of the biology of Cryptocaryon irritans, and hyposalinity as a control measure in cultured gilt-head sea bream   Sparus aurata, Dis Aquat Org 1:19, 1985).

I have had great success with hyposalinity and it is my first choice on cryptocaryon irritans treatment.

Steve Pro gathered & posted a list of articles on ich treatment/hyposalinity in the ich thread in my forum.
