Hi there I'm new to all this saltwater stuff, so please pardon my ignorance. I have a 72 gal tank that has been set up at least 7 months or so. The last few months I have had a terrible problem with red hair algae, now green algae. I have been doing 10 gal changes every couple of weeks or so to see if that helps. Just changed saturday night and today is back to green all over. My phosphates are 0.25 and I'm treating them with Brightwell Phosphat-E, also I have a lobster that lives in a rock and comes out at night. I had 3 chromies a week ago, 2 on saturday night now 1 today could the lobster be eating them? Any help???

Is this a reef tank with corals or just a fish/invert only tank?

Phosphates that high certainly are going to be a good fuel for the algae.

Here are a few articles that might help a little bit:

As far as the lobster goes, it certainly is possible he is eating them but IMO 99% of the time the chromis kill each other off and then the scavengers clean up the mess. I, along with many others, have tried keeping a shoal of chromis to end up with just one after a little while.
