I have always been baffled by all the additives I have at the disposal and what I really need to use.

Assuming I do regular water changes and my water quality is good and everything is where it should be, what do I need to be adding for
the live stock I have in my 80G tank currently?

1 Clown fish
1 Yellow Tang (4" long)
Soft Coral
Various shrimp, crabs and snails(cleaning crew)
1 Sea Anemone

Thanks for the advice!

I would say the water changes is taking care of everything for you, if you are doing around 10% weekly or at least 20% monthly. But that is only true if you have a small amount of soft corals and there basic needs are being meet with light and being feed regular with some type of coral food. IMHO things like Trace Elements, and iodine would only be needed if you have some large colonies. But it its only one or two small colonies your regular water changes should take care of most of there needs.

"only one or two small colonies your regular water changes should take care of most of there needs".

That is what I figured but wanted to make sure. Right now my coral load is really low. My main concerns were that the Anemone gets what it needs
and the main thing I have been reading is Iodine. I have been adding 5 to 10ml of Iodine about once a month. do you think it's Iodine
needs would be taken care of with just water changes? Same with Calcium, water changes will keep the level where it needs to be?

Thanks

I have a 30 gallon tank that is basically full of rose bubble tip anemones (the things keep splitting, LOL) and I don't use any extra additives or supplements in the tank. I make sure I keep up on water changes and I try to feed fairly regularily to the fish.

I do occasionally dose two part supplements in the tank to help the on acropora I have in the tank, but besides that I have had very good luck without using extra additives in the tank.
