I'm setting a refugium and have gotten different kinds of algae. Is there anything I can get to keep the algae in the refugium. It keeps falling in the bubble trap.

I have a custom acrylic sump, is there anything I can buy that would allow the water to pass by and leave the algae in the refugium?

I use fluval filter spounges in mine and it works great. But also you need to keep in mind that the spounges neeed to be cleaned about every one to two weeks to keep from from getting stopped up. Or you can try a DIY solution and buy some plastic gutter guard and make a ''wall'' to hold back the algae. but it has to be plastic, not metal b/c the metal will rust and release into you tank and be harmful to your fish.

I am not the man guy that answers questions here but i seen you question and i thought i would let you know what helped me when i had your problem.

I use a plastic Eggcrate Grille (ceiling panel)cut to fit that you can buy it from HomeDepot, you don't have to clean it as often as the sponge.
