Hey its me, eric, again lol. This time i have a question about my snowflake clowns. i have had them in a quarantine tank for just shy of 4 weeks. i know that i should have waited the full 4 weeks but they were showing now signs of sickness and it was only about 3 days early that i pulled them out, but my question today is, can they live by just eating pods only in my tank? the dealer i bought them from said that they were tank raised but i cant get them to eat anything but live baby brine shrime. i see them all the time picking here and there on rocks and on the rare side i will see them eat a pod on the glass. they will sometimes pick at the flakes i drop in the tank but usally spit them back out. i tried mysis shrimp, same thing they spit it out, freeze dried brine shrimp, marine blend, seaweed blend, they turn it all down. now they look real healthy, swim all the time never stop. but i also feed them the brine shrimp once a day so i know they are eating but i dont think its enough them eating the pods and brine shrimp? any ideas on how to get them to eat flake foods? i have never had a problem like this one before long term, most of the time i start them out on the brine shrimp but the usally will switch over in a week or two, its now been 4.

Just keep trying a variety of foods...frozen, flake, pellets, etc... It may take a little bit but they should take in a variety of foods without any issue. One food that I have found works well for picky eaters are frozen daphnia and the Nutramar Ova food. Another great line of frozen foods to give a try are the Rod's foods.

ok clownfish are doing a little better now on eating but they still will not eat like i think they should. (or at least like the clownfish i had in the past) but i was wondering would it be wise to buy another clown fish that is a little better at eating and place it in the tank, in hope that the smaller ones will learn how to eat better? if this is a good idea what kind should i get? the clowns that i have now are amphiprion ocellaris snowflake clowns. but i dont want to by anymore like them from that dealer cause he only sells them in pairs, plus i dont want to end up with bad eaters again lol.
also if adding another clown is a good idea, keep in mind that i have a bubble tip anemone, which by they way the clownfish have not even taken a interest in (but i did know it would be a gamble to get them to host it. so no feelings hurt but one that would host it, and show these other clowns how too host it and eat, would be cool)
and water levels are ok, Ph 8.2. salt 1.024. ammonia 0, nitrite 0, and mitrates less than 5 ppm.(i think its b/c of the wasted food)

No...don't try adding another clown, they will more than likely beat it up. Have you asked the dealer what the breeder recommends for a food, or what they were feeding them?
