I was thinking of 1 Nassarius snail, and an Emerald Mithrax Crab? Feeding them algea and seaweed sheets?

You could probably do that. You might even be able to add a few hardy corals (mushroom rock maybe) and even a tiny fish (think in the goby family). I have seen lots of neat little pico set ups out there.

The other option I was thinking was to put a Yellow Watchman Goby paired with a Pistol Shrimp in the tank. Once I get bold enough I will probably start off with an easier coral like a mushroom polyp. With a fish I fear about water pollution, perhaps a mini protien skimmer would cut down on big water changes? How much Live rock should I plan on and how deep of a sandbed for my burrowers?

| IMO the yellow watchman goby may be a little big for the tank. I know they are more expensive, but the Yasha Haza Goby might be a better option or the Hi Fin Redbanded Goby (Stonogobiops nematodes). These guys stay smaller than the Yellow Watchman goby. The nice thing about that sized tank is a water change is a snap...1 gallon out one gallon in. Should take all of 30 seconds to do, LOL. For liverock I would think 1-3 lbs would be plenty, but it will also depend on the type of rock. Sand I would probably do a 1" sand bed.

I think it will be a good learning tank and get me ready for my future JBJ 28gal HQI. After the holidays are over that project is going to start. What type of cleanup crew is suggested for a tank this small, mostly 1-2 snails? Would they starve in a tank this small or would a seaweed sheet provide them with a sufficient diet? I fear that the Pistol Shrimp and hermit crab will fight am I correct in this assumption?

Does anyone know of a small protein skimmer that would fit on this aquarium? Something that might hang on the back, so as not to take up vital real estate? Maybe even an additional filtration system will improve the overall water quality?

I'm not sure if it would fit or not but Azoo makes a hang on the back skimmer as does TAAM.
