I have a general question about trickle systems.

I was wondering if I should be using a canister with my trickle system. The only filter media that i have is located within the trickle system itself. Should i purchase a canister filter? Would this help with maintaining phosphate levels? My phosphate levels read zero.

I have a 75G tank and all my water levels meet the required levels. But i am still getting green hair algae developing in my tank.

Thanks for you help.

I wouldn't worry about adding on a canister filter, but you may be able to look into a filter media reactor like a phosban reactor.  This will allow better contact between the water and filter media and generally are easier to clean up/change media than a canister filter.

Is the tank a reef tank or fish only system?
