Thank you, my friend... and if you are serious about a serval, PLEASE talk to me and others. There is a lot(!) to learn about exotic felids and most people frankly cant handle them for a number of reasons. I took three years traveling the country for zoological conferences, vet and husbandry/handling training courses, etc... and I still dont think I was as prepared as I could have been. They can be quite a challenge outside of a zoo environment. This is NOT a housecat. My serval has his own freestanding, climate controlled building with kennel, barricade fence, and security. All required by my state and quite expensive, as you might imagine. They are not especially affectionate either. You really(!) need to be a cat lover that can understand and accept their aloofness. For an alternative, do look at the hybrids (Savannas).

No I am not serious. If I let my wife talk me into getting everything she wants we would end up broke, or just broken up. I actually had to talk her out of not trying to bring a tarsier monkey back home with us from a trip. Of all the crazy and exotic pets I have kept over the years (I grew up in a pet shop) a cat like that would be too much. I can barely keep up with what we have now. But anyways you have a very cool and special pet.

Heehee... I must admit I can empathize with your wife. There are so many creatures that are just so fascinating and endearing that you just want to be able to spend more time with them! Fortunately, I got over the desire to "want them all" years ago :p

Anthony,

As always, you want to fix everything in the world.  Is it a wonder you have issues with time management.  At my age of 61 I use the serenity prayer;  "God grant me the serenity to accept what I can not change, the courage to change the things I can and the Wisdom to know the difference".

I too have had a stressful year, including a termination from emplyment of 11 years as a Senior Subsea Engineer for not complying with perceived racial harrassment.  On  9/11/09, I was fired.  I like you, feel that growth does not come easy.   When God sees us at a comfartable plateau, He gives us circumstances to grow us up.  Only through Faith do we proove  His perfect will.

Keep the Peace, Spread the Faith

Your Cajun Friend,

Pat C

There is a time and a place for everything.

I have a new/extra 1500-2000 gallons at home to work with (in proper greenhouse/fishroom layout with a photo bench, live food culture, and a lot of automation).
