| I have a 55 gal freshwater tank and have been using a Magnum 350 canister for filtration. The filter is difficult to access easily so cleaning becomes a real chore. Now my canister is leaking so this is the perfect opportunity for me to improve my setup. Is there an alternative to canisters that would be easier to maintain? I've seen the Lifegard Aquatics Mechanical filter but I don't know if that's appropriate for freshwater tanks of my size or how to hook it up if it is. I'd appreciate any information. Thank you!

| Hey ddotfish, Welcome to the Marine Depot Forums . Yes the Lifegard systems would work fine on a freshwater system. While Marine Depot doesn't carry these, they should be able to special order them for you: http://www.lifegardaquatics.com/products/product.php?id=6 or http://www.lifegardaquatics.com/products/product.php?id=8 I have also found the Magnum filters to be one of the harder filters to change out. Take a look at the Rena canister filters, Fluval or Eheim for a little easier canister to maintain. HTH,
