If the spots resemble flakes of salt it could be or probably is ich. Can you give us a little more info about your set up. Tank size, inhabitants, filtration, how long have the fish been in the tank, water paramrters, etc. I'm sure the forum can help. Also there is a good thread on ich in the health and wellness section of the forum.
