FWIW, I was never happy with the Nanocube 12 gal. I purchased. It ran hot if I ever lowered the hood and I immediately had to sink a bunch of money (more than I paid for the cube) and time into modding it to get the water cooled to reef temps. Even with a small chiller installed the only way I was able to use the system with the top down was to run a fan on a heat controller that would blow air through the vents on top. After about a year, all of the metal screws used to tie it together had rusted and right around then the plastic hinges that held the top on broke, too. I gave it away a couple of months ago. I wish them better luck.

I have a Red sea max and I enjoy messing with it as much as my big tank. The only down fall with them in my opinion they need a better skimmer and more flow which I have heard Red sea has fixed in the new 130d's. But all in all it is great looking tank. Like Argi said the JBJ's, Solana's and event the Elos tanks are great as well. I do have a friend that has a cadlights professional series 39 gallon and that is the tank to get. They come with a Hqi fixture, external sump, nice protien skimmer, mag drive 4 return pump and a couple other things. The only thing you have to get is a stand.

Welcome to the Marine Depot Forums.

I am sorry for your loss but I am glad to see you want to set up a tribute to your father.

There are a couple of different systems Marine Depot carries that are very popular. The JBJ Nano Cube systems are one of the more popular ones. Good systems at a good price. They even have a system with metal halide lighting so you can keep some of the more light demanding corals.

The Red Sea Max is another great option. At 34 gallons, these are one of the most "complete" systems that even include a protein skimmer which many nano tanks do not. They are also going to be releasing their "250" model (which I think is 60 gallons) at some point this year (Feb-March time frame I believe).

Lastly if you want a more "modern" looking tank, the CurrentUSA Solana or the Elos MINI aquariums are nice set up to look at.

Looking for opinions on Plug n Play set-ups

Hi everyone. I did some looking and didn't really know where to post this so I hope this is the right place.

I already have a 210 gallon set up. It's doing great and I love it. My fish have been healthy, happy & thriving for over a year now and the corals are doing fine too. I've gotten very good info from this forum as well as others so thank you. I'd like some more info please.

My father recently died. He adored the sea, salt water set-ups, and especially corals, etc. I'd like to use some of the money he left me and set up a smaller system as sort of a tribute to him. Rather than just spend the money away, pay bills, and have nothing to show for it I'd like a lasting reminder of him.

So I'd like to set up one of the smaller, sort of *Plug n Play* systems and devote it mainly to corals with just a couple smaller fish. I've been doing some looking and some systems seem much better than others. I think there's the CAD systems that will retrofit them for you. Some come with sumps, skimmers, halides, etc.

Was thinking of staying around 30 gallons, give or take a couple gs. I've already got the big *killer* fish in my 210 so this smaller system will mainly be devoted to corals.

Would love to hear some recommendations on the all-in-one systems from those of you who have them.
