Symbio-zoox gets a coral by on basic needs... feeding (prey and absorption) and water flow spur reproduction and growth.

RE: Monti Digi growth trouble

Thanks Bro,

I have about 50 pieces now so im gonna put them all over the place. The reason i thought it might be the light is that there are other Digi's on the sides of the tank that are growing normally. Now that i think of it the flow is very different there as well.

RE: Monti Digi growth trouble

Its much more likely a water flow issue. Some times its too much... sometimes its too little. Experiment by adjusting the water flow over these corals and see if that does not make an improvement.

I highly doubt your lighting has anything to do with the morphology in this case.

Monti Digi growth trouble

Hi Ant,

I have been having some trouble with my Monti Digi frags. A few months ago i fragged 2 large corals into many pieces to build up my broodstock. I fragged and mounted them in all different ways. Some were mouted on their sides some straight up and even some wafers were cut. No matter which way i put them they all just encrust completely over the plug and onto the eggcrate with very few to no upward reaching branches. The plugs are fairly large (2"-2.5") and it seems strange that they would encrust this far without branching. The corals were origionally from one of my display systems and were branching like crazy in there. The only thing i can think of is that they may be too close to the lights. I have them directly under a 250 watt MH,10,000k XM bulb. The light is about 12" above the water and the corals are about 4" from the surface. Im getting great growth, but its hard to sell a flat encrusted disk Any Ideas?

Thanks

Rob
