I have heard many accounts of fish that "act neurologic" or "never are themselves" after using clove oil for anesthesia.</P><P>At a recent fish health conference at NCSU, Drs Lewbart, Harms and Swanson, discussed this and have had similar experiences. It seems that the clove oil has a smaller margin of error with dosing than MS 222 (finquel) and that the oil can actually "coat" the gills making oxygenation difficult and can lead to hypoxia (condition of lack of oxygen).....thus causing injury to the brain/tissues.
