I would NEVER add any medications to a reef display tank.

RE: Pros/Cons of diff. Decreasing stress helps with improving the outcomes/success of treatment and decreasing the chances of secondary infections.

Best of luck.

RE: Pros/Cons of diff. The tangs are young too, so size isnt an issue.

RE: Pros/Cons of diff. ICH treatments

Reeffer,

I am a big fan of garlic......but I would not rely on it to successfully treat ich. Yes the fish may improve and not show signs of ich......but the ich parasite is still in the tank, multiplying and waiting to "strike" again. I do think that the garlic will help with intestinal worms and does improve immune system. For every one that says something works, you can always find even more that say it doesn't work - are either one correct ? There are so many variables that play a factor in each case. Garlic has not been shown/proven to kill the ich parasite.

With all that being said, I value my fish and IF I would see ich - no question, I'd pull the fish & treat them all in a QT with hyposalinity. I would leave the display tank fallow (fishless) for at least 6 weeks.

I would enrich the diet while they are being treated with vitamins, garlic and beta glucan as well.

I also would quarantine everything wet (algae, snails, corals, fish, rock, etc) for at least 4-8 weeks before I would introduce it into a display tank.

I know this is probably not what you wanted to hear - but this is what I think is the best treatment for fish.

Please keep us updated on progress.
Best of luck.

Pros/Cons of diff. ICH treatments

just noticed what looks like ich, i have shut Protein skimmer off for the night and will see if its air bubbles in the morning.
I know the life cycle of crypt. and I have read the diff. procedures for treatment.

Now i know the BEST option is to remove all fish and QT w/ hypo or copper

I have read Garlic "blocks" the parasite from finding a host...it says this is a UNproven method but i have read peoples testaments to it working. Im wondering if i should try it first before THE dreaded...I mean if it did work i would be another success story for it, at the same time if i did it and it didnt work i go to the other side of the line..booo garlic!!

i only have 5 fish in a 135G, i could get four out by removing some rocks and coral but to get my Watchman Goby....not fun...i would be basically be doing a complete removal of all rock and risk a good chance of crushing him and my pistol. The fish must be saved at all cost...but(here is the hard part)... at the cost of clams, anemones, and corals by being removed and stressed as well and possibly die. although with careful planning i could make the time out of the display tank minimal(minutes)

should i give Garlic a chance ? or is it a waste of time and only allows the parasite to multiply? Also i feed Formula One frozen, Fromula One and Two pellets mixed, and green algae sheets- Sailfin, Hippo tang, clown, splendid dottyback, and watchman. What else can i feed them to help fight the ich
