I have been trying to find a good growth rate of large Angelfish. I have not found any good info yet. I want to know how fast juveniles grow. Lets say if their about 3" right now. How big will they be in 6 months, 12 months, 18 months, Ect... I have 2 in a 90 gallon right now and will be moving in about a year to a bigger house. At that point I will be buying a 220 to 400 gallon. I am leaning more towards 300 gallons. But want to know how long I have before I need to get them in the bigger tank.

I'm not sure if there are any studies done on growth rates within aquariums because there are some many different factors like tank size, water quality, diet and genetics to start with.

I guess I will keep a log and post my results on here over the next few years. Keeping in mind diet, water, fish and any other factors I can. Maybe it will help spark someone else to do the same but with more species then I have.

Emperor angelfish and queen

The emperor angel will get up to 15-16" in size and the queen 16-17".  My best guess is they will double to triple in size in your current tank within a years time...but it will again depend on water conditions, feedings, aggression (the dominant fish generally will grow quicker than the less dominant), etc...
