My hands are dry and cracked. I think it's eczema. I need to  know what gloves won't leech chemicals into my tank. I already have a pair of coralife reef gloves but I'm looking for something I can do fine work on equipment and corals with. I  need to keep some kind of oil or lotion on my hands as much of the time as possible. The short gloves would be used to keep from washing my hands every time I touch anything that may end up in the tank. I don't plan to use them to dive in. I also was hoping that someone would know what kinds of lotion might be the least dangerous.  Maybe shea butter or corn huskers oil or something? Part of me is hoping someone else has had a similar problem but I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Ouch!! Thanks...........XLtom

Hi xltom,

I have always used the latex gloves (non powdered ones).  I would pick up a box of 100 at my local Home Depot.  I think Anthony Calfo gets surgical gloves, not positive what they are made of though (latex also I believe).

I am not sure what type of lotion would be safest for the tank, hopefully someone else might have some experience with this and will chime in.

I 'd use Nitrile, no sense in developing an allergy to Latex, to many future medical issues. Grainger has 8 mil Nitrile 50 for $22.61 Stock No. 1AV58, you can buy them on line. The 4mil rip too easily. PS been wearing them at work for 20+ years with no skin problems, hands it all kinds of conditions. See a Dermitologist for your skin problem, before it gets out of control.

Thanks, I bought both but I could only find a large size in latex. One size fits all, not really! I've got an apointment in the school health department today about my hand. Don't think I'll be seeing a dermatologist unless everybody votes to the left this year. Glassblowing has a lowsy benefit package..Thanks for your concern... Those thicker gloves from grainger sound cool, but I've already gone through four pairs so I think the price would be a concern...

That stock number is for a box of 50 gloves. Glass Blowing, that's pretty neat. Have a cousin that "works glass", and does neon, he is a millionaire several times over. So you just need to find your market.
