I have a ASM G1X skimmer with a Sedra 3500 pump that has been working very well. Last night I noticed bubbles coming out of the slots on the back of the pump above the power cord. It's still producing lots of skimmate. Is this a harmful condition? I know it's a sealed motor, and this suggests to me that it may not be sealed any longer. Thanks for any help.

Stick you hand in the tank and see if you get a shock.  Just Kidding!!!!

I would suggest unplugging the pump and take it out for an inspection.  I know I have seen this on some of my pumps, but normally only after they have been in the tank for a few days (still working out some of the air pockets in the empty areas) not weeks or months later.

Thanks for the quick response. I stuck my hand in .........and my hair is starting to lay back down! No, there is no electricity in the tank. This pump is about 5 years old. Last night I noticed the foam production is dropping and there is more bubbles coming out the back than there is going into the skimmer! So I guess it's time for a new pump. Thanks again for all the info I get from this forum.
