| I just set up a new tank and I wanted to know what kind of fish i should get it's a community tank. I'd like to get schools of fish like neon tetras ,but if no one wants to give me some suggestions i'm just going to buy like 30 of them so please before i spot a new fish and its to late to buy please tell me some cool fish to put in my tank.

| After doing some research on types of freshwater fish I think I might just get a bunch of guppies. After looking at magnificent guppies there colors blew my mind so I'm going to go ahead and get these fish. If anyone knows anything about breeding these guppies please let me know.

| Hi Kyle, Welcome to the Marine Depot Forums . There are many different possibilites for a freshwater community tank. What size tank are you setting up? Neon tetras are a good choice, but are fairly sensitive so I would hold off putting them in the tank first. Give the tank time to cycle before adding them, probably around 3-6 months after the tank has been up and running is a good time to add them. Some of my other favorites include rummynose tetra's, cardinal tetras, harlequin rasbora's and most of the cory catfish. Guppies can also be a good addition to the tank. IF you want to keep "pure breed" guppies, you will want to purchase only one type of guppy. Most recommend having one male to 2-3 females. If you just want to have a mix of guppies you can certainly do this and again I would recommend having around 1 male per 2-3 female guppies. The males will sometimes fight and by having more females than males this aggression can sometimes be lessened. Guppies don't fight as bad as other fish (like swordtails or mollies), but occasionally you will get a fiesty one. HTH, PS I am moving this to the freshwater section for you

| Alright thanks for the info on the fish I thank after about 3-4 weeks ill add a cpl guppies and then later on when the tank is more stable i'll throw some tetras in. But I have a question on this tank. My sister fish tank was drained and she had a suckerfish that was living in a bowl of sinkwater. My tank has gotten the filter hooked up yesterday and I thought it would be better off in my tank with water that's been through (forgot name but makes water extremely clean i use it for waterchanges in my 125g saltwater) the purfier thing. So let me know if it's better off in thw bowl iwth sink water =( or a new tank with cleaner water a filter and more room =)

I would put it in the tank, it will have a much better chance of living in there.

| Hey i read wilma's post and i never knew there were freshwater snails if you know anything about them can you post any info on them and how many snails i should get per gallon
